Updated School Room

With my boys getting older it was time for an updated and new school room look! Took me most of the summer to gather everything I was really wanting and to achieve the look I was going for.

This is when you walk in to the room. The grid will be used to hang important papers from Units we will be doing and to show off work that my boys do.

I decided to get a couple of maps to use as learning material and decoration for the room. My goal was to keep the room very simple and clean.

Our homemade white board made from marker board from Lowes. The sign to the left will be used to post encouraging quotes. Under the white board is our time line for History 1.

Our new book display that my husband built for us. I love being able to see what the boys are going to read this next school year and some of our read aloud books.

My desk area

The shelf with drawers is filled with our school supplies. On top of it is my youngest boys Science theme that we are starting with. I also found some nature posters to hang above to go with the Science theme.

My kids desks and chairs from IKEA both look the same. They each have a set of drawers with their school books in them. And our most used supplies are in the middle of the table to share.

I love that I achieved exactly what I was going for and was able to get rid of so much clutter. Now we all know as Homeschoolers that it might be clean at the beginning of the year but it never stays this way for long.

I will be back with more posts on what curriculum we chose for 5th Grade and 7th Grade in the next couple of weeks!

We will officially be starting the 2018-2019 school year August 13th.

When are you starting the school year or have you already started?

Our Schoolroom 2016-2017

I finished up the schoolroom this weekend! We start school tomorrow and I am very excited to get started! I wanted to provide a space that was welcoming and exciting for my boys and I feel that I reached that goal!

As you enter the room this is what you see. My desk and shelf.

To the right of the room is our main table and the boys desks.

I will work my way around the room and explain in more detail!

To the left of my desk I hung two posters that I will display amazing work on. Then you see my bulletin board that is home to our School Calendar and our Weekly Schedule. I will also be hanging our Character Trait of the week here. I have a hanging caddy that houses my markers, pens, and pencils. The organizer on my desk is where papers will be turned in from both of the boys. Above my computer is our Homeschool Rules!

To the right of my desk is my shelf. It has my printer, paper cutter, hole punch and laminator on it. It also holds my Teacher manuals and extra school supplies. The poster to the right of it is our Multiplication Tables.

Then is the window area (sorry for the bad glares). This shelf is from IKEA and I am using it to hold our main school supplies. They are labeled and organized for the school year. Top right drawer is our Math Manipulatives.

To the right of the window is our Dry Erase Board and our Calendar area. Next to the shelf are some of our Science Manipulatives and our CD Player.

Above the closet door are just some cute lights I found at Target and on the closet door is our Spelling Assignments for each week. The desk in this picture is my 5th Graders and above it is our United States Map.

On the door is a Science Poster and a Post of our Presidents. This desk is my 3rd Graders and above it is a Language Arts Poster and Cursive Alphabet.

Each desk has a caddy that has markers, colored pencils, crayons, a ruler, glue stick, eraser, highlighters, dry erase marker, scissors, and a pencil (not pictured) on it.

This is our table where we will do curriculum that they are both using. We will start our day here with our Morning Work and continue through the day either at their desks or at this table depending on which Subject we are working on.

This is our schoolroom!
As you can see I went with a black and white theme at first,  but then decided to throw in a lot of color!
I am so excited to get started tomorrow and utilize this space fully!

Classroom Pictures!!!

I am thrilled to say our schoolroom is complete except for our Art wall which will come as he completes art work!

I have been working on this room since before Summer.

Now on to the pictures!

When you walk through the doorway this is what you see.
My desk and planning area.

Here is a bit of a better picture of my area. The area above my desk is our Art Wall.

To the right of my desk this is what you see.
Our bulletin board, Numbers 1-30, Colors, Table from IKEA, Our Trofast System from IKEA and Word Wall.

To the right of the Word Wall is our Ordinal Numbers at the top, Schedule below that and our Calendar in the orange square.

Just to the right of that and on the left side of the door are our shapes.

And between the entrance door and bathroom door is our Alphabet and Geography area on those white boards, and the bin on the bottom is our Sensory Bin.

I am in love with our room and can't wait to start our Curriculum on Monday as we are ready to go now!

I am linking up with Blog Hoppin’s Linky Party.

Last weekend was the huge Back To School Sale at Teachers Pay Teachers so I decided it was time to get the things I had been eye-balling.

Here are a few of my recent purchases!

My favorite purchase is this and I went crazy and printed and hung it up in our room immediately! Dylan loves it too! It is so colorful and very well put together.

It's August already!

This year has gone by so fast. I have been planning and planning since before Summer and finally got around to ordering our new schoolroom furniture from IKEA! Bad news it could be the end of the month before it is delivered. Majorly sad here as I have worked so hard to get my room ready for it and now it could be almost September before it gets here. Which means our start date for schooling this year is now being pushed back. I am praying that it surprises me and gets here faster than they estimated as I can't wait to get it all set up and be able to start on time.

Here are a few of the things I ordered.

A new table.

MELLTORP/HERMAN Table and 2 chairs IKEA The table top is covered with melamine, a moisture- and scratch-resistant finish that is easy to clean.
A new desk and chair.
MICKE Desk IKEA A long table top makes it easy to create a workspace for two.  ALRIK Swivel chair IKEA Height adjustable for a comfortable sitting posture. Easy to keep clean; wipe with a damp cloth.
The Trofast system with white drawers.
TROFAST Frame IKEA A sufficient number of guide rails are included for you to be able to combine as many boxes/shelves as you like. TROFAST Storage box IKEA Fits in TROFAST frames. Stackable when used with a lid.
And I have also picked up several things at Mardel, Target, Office Depot and I don't remember where else.
I seriously can't wait to share our new classroom with you all so I hope this little sneak peek into it gets you all as excited as me!
